Heineken Experience Amsterdam

The Heineken Experience is an interactive journey through the history and brewing process of one of the world’s most iconic beer brands. Located in the original Heineken brewery on Stadhouderskade, which operated from 1867 to 1988, the experience spans four floors of historic industrial architecture filled with modern interactive exhibits.

Your self-guided tour begins with the story of Gerard Adriaan Heineken, who bought the brewery as a young man and transformed a local Amsterdam beer into a global phenomenon. Original copper brewing kettles, fermentation tanks, and bottling equipment are preserved alongside multimedia displays that bring the brewery’s history to life.

The Brew You Ride is the highlight for many visitors — a virtual reality experience where you are “brewed” alongside the beer, experiencing mashing, boiling, fermenting, and bottling from inside the brewing vessel. It is thrilling, educational, and genuinely unique.

Throughout the experience, you receive two beer tokens redeemable at several bars within the venue. Expert staff explain the proper way to pour a Heineken (yes, there is a specific technique) and guide you through a tasting that reveals the flavor profile behind the beer’s famous recipe.

The rooftop bar offers panoramic views of Amsterdam and is the perfect place to enjoy your final tasting token. The experience also includes a personalized bottle station where you can create a custom Heineken bottle with your name — a popular souvenir.
